At Health and Wellbeing Warminster, we firmly believe essential healthcare should be accessible within our community. The withdrawal of our mobile breast screening unit was a major setback, but we finally have a breakthrough.
Following a constructive meeting with Deputy Mayor Cllr Liz Lee and the Wiltshire Breast Screening Service (BSS), we’ve secured a path forward. While the unit will not return to the Morrisons car park due to previous safety and antisocial behaviour concerns, the BSS has assured us it could return for the 2028 programme if we find a suitable new site.
We are already assessing several potential locations to present to the BSS to secure their agreement.
We Still Need Your Help Community support has been vital. Over 1,300 people have signed the petition for the unit’s return. We urge anyone who hasn’t yet to sign it online here:

or at the Avenue Surgery (Waiting Room A) to demonstrate the strength of feeling in our town.
Furthermore, Cllr Liz Lee is asking residents to share any difficulties they’ve faced accessing screening services outside of Warminster. Please email your experiences to admin@warminster-tc.gov.uk or visit the Civic Centre.
The path ahead is clear. Let’s keep the momentum going and bring this essential service back.
